Massage Therapy

Soft Tissue Treatment

Massage uses a variety of hands on touch to soothe and relax soft tissues of the body for therapeutic purposes. Therapeutically, massage can help increase blood and lymph circulation while eliminating scar tissue in the soft tissue structures, along with reducing stress, swelling, and muscle spasm. It is useful in many conditions in which body relaxation, reducing swelling, and muscle mobilization is desired. Approaches vary with each therapist and their training.

Most massage techniques work by stroking and kneading muscles and related soft tissue. The massage intensity and it effect vary with each individual. Clothing is usually removed from the area treated and the patient should be relaxed and comfortable. A lubricating oil is used to reduce friction on the skin during the circular stroking and compression of soft tissues.
